The launch ceremony of Myanmar’s first locally manufactured diabetes and obesity treatment, SEGLUPAC, was successfully held.

The launch ceremony of Myanmar’s first locally manufactured diabetes and obesity treatment, SEGLUPAC, was successfully held.

Myanmar’s leading pharmaceutical manufacturer, Pacific Medical Industries (PMI), successfully produced Semaglutide (SEGLUPAC) locally for the first time in the country. To commemorate this milestone, a Hybrid Webinar launch event was grandly held on February 8, 2026, at Melia Hotel Yangon.

At the ceremony, Co-founder & Group Vice Chairwoman Dr. Saw Nay Nwe delivered the opening remarks and introduced the company’s latest advanced product, SEGLUPAC.

PMI stated that the world’s latest diabetes treatment has now been successfully manufactured domestically in full compliance with quality standards. The product aims to provide patients with a high-quality, effective alternative to expensive imported medicines—making treatment more affordable and accessible.

Renowned professors and specialists led the academic discussions as follows:

• Prof. Tint Swe Latt (Emeritus Professor, Former Rector, University of Medicine (2), Yangon; Patron, MMDA & MSEM) delivered the Introductory Remark.

• Dr. Kyar Nyo Soe Myint (Senior Consultant Endocrinologist) presented on “Mechanism and Clinical Rationale.”

• Prof. Ni Ni Hlaing (Professor of Endocrinology) discussed “Evidence Across Indication.”

• Prof. Ko Ko (Professor and Head, Department of Diabetes and Endocrinology, UM-1; President, Myanmar Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism – MSEM) presented on “Real-world Practice, Challenges & Future Perspectives.”

Following the presentations, Chairpersons Prof. Than Than Aye (Emeritus Professor; President of Myanmar Diabetes Association – MMDA; Patron, MSEM) and Prof. Tint Swe Latt, together with the speakers, responded to questions from both in-person and online participants.

PMI’s Commitment to Quality Standards

PMI’s CEO, Mr. Deven, delivered a presentation titled “Control, Comfort, Confidence,” explaining the entire production process—from the selection of high-quality API raw materials to final manufacturing standards for SEGLUPAC.

The ceremony concluded successfully with closing remarks by Prof. Than Than Aye.

At the end of the program, lucky draw prizes including an iPhone 16, iPad (11th Generation), and a one-night stay at Melia Hotel were awarded to attendees. Online participants also had the opportunity to win cash prizes. The event concluded with a gala dinner reception.
